So i have this beautiful silver ring I pulled out of the wet sand. It was almost pitch black. I tried silver cleaner (dip) with almost no change. I searched the forum and found a hot water/baking soda/aluminum foil method that helped a LOT. I repeated this a few times, even put my own spin on it (helped a little). But it's still dull gray. Did the salt toast it or is there some other method to bring that shine out?

Try a dremel with the soft polishing pad (no brush) with some turtlewax or something similer. I found a couple different rings that was almost completely black and this made them shine like brand new. Took about 5 minutes.

I used Tarn X and a Q-Tip on a horrible looking war Nickel and it cleaned right up =)

The foil/soda soaks remove the sulfides from the silver, but it is left pitted and dull. You can start with some 400 grit sandpaper to lightly bring out the "clean" silver underneath, and then a dremel polish wheel to make it shine again.
