I see on Ebay that they sell these snap on filters to help eliminate chatter. I was wondering if they actually work, or is it just a gimmick?
RFI EMI filters, do they work?

Gimmick. The filters a typically used to keep the noise from getting out, like switching power supplies for computers.
They cost under a dollar, pennies in large quantities. If they made even the slightest difference, wouldn't they already be installed? This comes up often, how much are they going for on Ebay these days? I only looked once, but it was $12.50, plus shipping...

They do work, but not for metal detector applications.
