UPDATED! Story #3 - My Eye Popping, Mind Blowing Day of Firsts

What kind of detector are you using? :?:

I'm using Bounty Hunter Platinum with the stock coil + 11" DD coil.
Cheap, good, easy and very light machine.
I'm thinking about getting me 5" DD sniper coil for trashy areas.
It will make this set complete. :)

Hey what is that round with the H on it? I found the exact same one at a cellar hole earlier in the week but it's too big to be a .22.
"H" - stands for Winchester Repeating Arms Company.
Winchester used the "H" headstamp for years on all of its rimfire cartridges in honor of, Benjamin Tyler Henry, one of the pioneer inventors of Winchester's past.
If your shell is bigger - it could be .32 rimfire with the same marking.
Look at this link - http://www.ammo-one.com/32-SHORT-R-F.html
.32 "H" is the third one from the top.

Well - I did visit this site two more times and want to show you some of mine recent finds.
I'm done with this location for now - I will definitely visit it again when I will update my machine :) - so I'm including some totals for the season.

I expand my military buttons collection with the totally beautiful pre-WWII made in England by J.R.Gaunt & Sons big winter coat great seal button.
Plus I've got the screw back collar button and unusual Jr.A.G. button.
I also found unfired bullet. All are my firsts.
I found nine more Buffalos with dates ranging from 1920 to 1937 (the total count for this site - 13), two more Barber dimes -1902 and 1913 (four in total), five more Mercury (the total is 10), another Rosie (2) and pretty worn out 1904 Barber Quarter - my first!
I also dug up six more Indian Heads including my oldest American coin - 1888
(8 in total) and two V-nickels -1896 and 1912 (4).
Plus I got very nice and very old silver ring with tiger's eye stone.
And last but not least - very unusual find - sterling silver photo locket, made in the late 40s in Taxo, Mexico by pretty famous Mexican jeweler Carlos Castillo.

There are couple of other finds I have to mention - but I'll do it later.

All in all – it was "dream come true" site.

Thanks for looking and HH everybody!

Wow! Super cool. Any idea what the silver ball thingy is?

~ Red

Yes.
If you read my post :) you will find out - what it is.
Other pictures show how it looks when it's open.

OK - let's make it simple.
It is the photo locket.
For 6 family pictures.
Mexican photo locket. :)

Your bullet is not unfired. You can see the rifling marks where it passed through a barrel at some point. It is in very good shape for having been fired, it must have hit something soft.

OK. It is officially fired since now on. :)
Thanks for the info, man.
I was looking at those marks myself...
But the shape is almost perfect - like it never hit something at all.

Do you have a pinpointer? Might save some scratches/dings on the coins. Some really nice finds!

Of course - I do. :)
Most scratches are natural - in some cases they are not scratches at all, it's a sign of corrosion.
I really nicked just couple of coins from this site and it's usually happening when you are cutting the plug and there are multiple coins in the hole.
So sometimes - you just couldn't avoid it.

It looks like you stumbled in to a pretty amazing site!!

Congrats on all the great finds!!!

I really love the photo locket.... Never seen one quite like that, and it's intact to boot!! (Did it still have pictures of mi Abuelo? Mi Tia? lol)

Seriously though, with finds like that I would grid that area and pound it mercilessly.

Good digs
