Found this fragment of a locket while detecting around a 1860's (or possibly earlier) derelict house. The house had been occupied as a summer residence up until recent years. Also found some 1940's through 1960's coins, a couple old pocket watch inner parts, complete parts of a 1892 patented harmonica, and some random harmonica reeds at the site.

The locket appears to be made of copper or brass.

Can anyone give an 'educated' guess of its age?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Hmm well I'm going with mid 1800's-early 1900's.

Why? I collect and repair antique pocket watches and this type of design work is similar to what I have seen on pocket watches of that age.

Of course it's possible to be more modern with a retro thing going on ..but I don't think so, I'm sticking with my initial date range until someone proves differently.

That is an awesome piece. The design shouts vintage/victorian to me, however I have no expertise in this excepting other finds I have with such ornate markings. I have cosmetic cases, a sewing tape measure and gas light tap that have the same look/vibe and these are from the 1800's. Great post.
