Those are incredible Doug! Do you know the approximate age of them? Being across the pond, much more history of course. Amazing!

Thank you, a very rough guide is if they hand punched indentations they are the older ones opposed to the machine made indentations.

Top 2 are hand punched 17th/18th century but without a hallmark I can't be certain.

...Doug.

Great thread idea...there are some beautiful ones out there.
I found a few but only one silver specimen.

Found this one in a yard across the street from my house. The sterling mark is inside the end.

The day I found my Sterling Thimble I also found a couple nice rings...I miss Kansas metal detecting!:yes:

Found this thimble in the woods along an old, long-abandoned roadway on the island off the coast of Maine where I live. It is pierced through both sides, not drilled. You can see the entry-side of the piercing on one side and the exit-side flaring of the metal on the other side. Must have been worn on a string around someones neck back in the day.

That one is awesome!

I have quite a few silver thimbles but unfortunately they're all fairly plain and usually crushed.

Thanks for sharing everyone! Great start would like to keep it going, HH!

Found this one today at a new permission. In great shape too, no damage that I could tell.

Here's all three of mine. Pretty sure they are all early to mid 19th century based on their simplicity, unmarked and where I found them

Here is a complete, slightly bent up one I dug 2 years ago. It says Sterling 7 on it.....its tough to see with the lighting.

Here is a pic of two silver thimbles. The shorter one was found in May of this year and the taller one was found this week.
