I found these today in an alfalfa field (old home site) that I beat up pretty good with the AT Pro last year...used the Fisher F75 today. The two clips read "Patented Dec 23 1884 The Frost & Hatch Mfg Co Cleveland Oh". I can't find anything about Frost & Hatch when I google it. Suspender clips maybe?? The button is made by Scovill and is the exact size of an Excelsior Civil War button I found here in Michigan before, but it doesn't appear military. Any help?

The dime was in the same area; figured it would work for size comparison and maybe just showing off a tiny bit since it's only my second Seated

The button is from the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic). Civil war veterans fraternal group, so not technically a military button, but closely related.

I found this about Frost & Hatch:
76 Euclid avenue, Cleveland. Manufacturers of Corsets, Stockings, and Skirt Supporters.
So clothing related, as you suspected.
Edit/added —— the patent number for these is 309615
