Garrett Ace 300 used as a first detector. Why or why not?

There's a used Garrett Ace 300 semi locally available for an attractive price. I'm in the market for my first detector for relic hunting, coin hunting, general detecting.

For anyone with experience with these machines why would this be a good machine for me? Why not?

What would be a good used value for a lightly used Ace 300?

If your area has high mineral content the absents of ground balance will limit that detectors use.

Is there a "mineralization" map of the US? I'm not sure what my local soils are like.

Sorry I missed your post, I do not think that that can be mapped. In my area you can move 100 yards and go from great sweet soil to very bad miminalized
soil. It is best to have a detector that the ground balance is not fixed and can be adjusted depending on conditions.

Thank you. I appreciate the input.
Very helpful for a newbie like me.
