I got permission a few days ago to detect a closed down motel. The motel was built in 1959 and sits on 10 acres, but most of it is overgrown and not reall accessible except the front lawn which is about an acre or so. I’ve stopped over to it twice now, once a couple days ago for about 2 hours and again today for a few more hours. Ive been hopeful that because it was built in 59, I will get lucky with some silver coins. So far, I have found mostly clad, as well as motel relics like some door keys, metal numbers that used to be screwed into the front doors and pieces and parts of cars, like battery terminals, antennae, etc. also found a Zippo lighter. Today, I tried the other side of the front yard where some additional parking spaces meet up to the lawn. Shredded up cans and bottle caps all over the place. Said a little prayer for some luck, and 5 minutes later, pulled up a very pretty, fairly heavy silver Cat Eye (Tiger Eye) ring. 925 RS Thailand. Pretty stone in the center and looks like diamond chips on the sides. I have come up dry with finds the last few times out, so prayers were answered with this beauty. Feels good to have a nice recovery at the end of the week. Bonus is that the coins I found on this hunt pushed me to over 1,000 total coins found so far this year.
