This past winter I took some time to Overlay some maps. And found a small town south of me that no longer exist. Using current landmarks I lined up what used to be buildings from this town a quarter of a mile off the side of the road.
I was able to get permission to metal detect these fields before the crops go in.
There is plenty of red brick glass shards from bottles and jars all over the field.
I have been out a few times now and have come across Indian Head pennies from the 1880s to 1901. The town was started in the mid 1860 s and the post office closed in 1909.
I was able to find some buttons both metallic and porcelain which were laying on top of the ground Lantern pieces and horse tack and what appears to be a bell from a telephone.
As old as this town site is there should be some barbers and seated buried Somewhere Out There.
I also came across some old Rimfire cartridges that are larger then a 22 not sure what they are. And to my surprise laying on top of the ground was also stems off of an Old Clay pipe.
On my trip out there yesterday I was able to meet up with AirmetTango and it was nice to have company while detecting and sharing the time.
