Live Web Cam Eagles Nest Is Back...

There is also a live eagle cam at Berry College in Rome Georgia. They have produced two eggs, one of which has hatched. The second egg was produced 3 days after the first. One hatched last Saturday. The eagle experts are now saying the second is probably not viable even though the pair continue to sit on it.

Georgia Power employees placed the nest cam on a limb very near the nest and it has IR night vision on it as well so you can see it both night and day. So far there has been over 3 million viewers. There are a lot of schools that are watching this nest via the internet.

The eagles have been seen on the campus for the past few years. There is also an approach view camera and link set up that you can switch to which gives a wider view. I'll post the link here. Check it out, it's pretty neat to watch. Here's the link http://www.berry.edu/eaglecam

WOW! this is very cool. Live web cam of Eagles nest:

I saw two eggs when the mother and father swapped turns. Cant' wait until the day to see the chicks hatch.

Cool - been watching this pair for several years. Last year, no webcam as the nest was blown out of 80 foot cottonwood tree. New year, new nest. They have raised 17 chicks together. Actually 1 male fathered all 17. There have been 2 moms. First mom died a few years back. It is awesome after the chicks hatch. The parents bring rabbits, squirrels, fish (trout and suckers) to the nest. There is a fish hatchery right next door so they have a really good supply of fish. The nest can grow as big as an upside down volkswagen over the years. I could go on and on about this subject and these eagles :)

Here is another one that I've been watching, from MN.

Once the chicks hatch, these sites get a lot more interesting. I followed the Decorah pair for the first time two years ago, in their old nest. They are such good parents that they are called the Ward and June Cleaver of the eagle world.

Thats actually pretty cool to see. I don't think I could sit here for hours watching it, but I'd leave it up and check every so often.

Have all 3 up right now, but on the Berry college one it looks like one of the eagles is picking at another bird to eat? Do they eat other birds or something? I honestly don't know.

Yes they will eat other birds. While Eagles do grab live fish out of the water (which is what most people picture in their mind) they also like other birds of prey eat from dead animals etc. Something I didn't know until recently is that Eagles will swim. Often times they will grab a fish or bird from the water that is too large for them to fly away with so they swim to the shore with them and eat them there.

It's amazing how these young eaglets grow . They eat raw meat and fish from birth. I really enjoy checking up on them once in a while and see them feeding.
