Post your pics and stories of wildlife seen while detecting. This hawk let me get really close at a park this past weekend.

Spotted this guy in a rock pile I was checking out. Swung over him twice before I saw him!

I would have picked up the biggest rock I could and dropped it on his head. I killed one in my yard last year one night , one more step and I would have probably been bit. Be careful out there , it's warming up and they're gonna start hunting.

Hawk (thought it was a juvenile Eagle) having black squirrel for breakfast and the last pic Killdeer eggs.

What kind of snake is that, some type of python? I like non-venomous snakes, I would have picked him up. When I was young and stupid, I used to catch rattlers just for the hell of it. Not so much anymore.

That appears to be a Copperhead. Could put a hurt on ya.

I ran onto this sign while detecting at a county park in Southern Oregon a couple years ago. I use ear buds when detecting and heard several snakes rattling that day, but didn't see any. Then I see this sign! I can't even find a Mercury dime but can sure find the snakes.......lol

Wow, how many people got bitten before they put that up?

Looks like copperhead to me too. Not one you'd want to be bitten by for sure!!!

Certainly looks like a copperhead. Was filling a deer feeder with corn and set the bag down by a tree while I lowered the feeder.
went to pick up the bag of corn and there was a copperhead within a foot of where I just had my hand a few minutes before. I guess I was lucky but the snake never made any attempt to be aggressive. However I was very aggressive.

We live a pretty sheltered life around here , Mosquitos the only thing biting and poison ivy  ,,,,,HH

Found this poor guy with my son last year, got it to a rehab specialist to treat acute lead toxicity from eating carrion that was shot by a hunter and lost.

Really amazing

Rescued this dude during winter. Cant remember which type sea turtle he was? Rescued a bunch of baby ones last year. Inland I had a few Indigo buntings I never got a pic of. Swam with a bunch of Manatees while detecting

Didn't get a picture, but I was detecting along the edge of a fallen down house yesterday and between the boards I see a porcupine staring at me. he turned and disappeared in the house. never did come out. I was there about another hour.

Yep, a copperhead. It was fairly cool that morning so I guess that's why he didn't move when I swung over him. That was two springs ago. Last spring in the same pasture I walked down to another rock pile and there were several black snakes out sunning. Two had just shed. Saw a bear that morning too but wasn't fast enough for a photo!
