Hit a local high school this morning with my son that was allegedly built on top of the old fairgrounds. We were hoping for old relics and coins, but got lots of "teenager trash" and clad instead. We got so many clad pennies in fact, that we discrim'd out 70-80 in Coin Mode towards the end to avoid digging so much. Many of the pennies were 1982 and older which we'll keep, so that's cool, but we got no wheaties or silver coins. The good news is that I am pretty sure no one has detected this school (recently anyway). So we'll go back and hit it again.

The find of the day was a Sterling ring next to the sidewalk. While not particularly valuable, it was a win because it boosted my son's confidence. He wants to find old or valuable stuff and all the clad is frustrating him. In my eyes, this was a good hunt. We had a great time together and in the end that's really what matters.
