I had a fun day at the beach in a state park today learning my new Garrett 300. Ended up with 15 pennies, 3 quarters and a dime. Also got pull tabs, nails, juice bottle and an awesome new cell phone!
Oldest coin was a 1965.
Not to bad for a newbie, I'll be going back for sure.

That’s the way to find targets DannyMac! If you just GO SWING and do it ALOT it is dumbfounding what you’ll find. When you get to the whole “geez I’d like to find some really old coins” thing (silver coins) then it becomes a game that’s a little more involved. But for right now,the 300 will find you things, and that’s what keeps it interesting. Keep us up to date on how you do!

IDX, Can you explain what's different about finding silver, or point me in the right direction to learn?

Nice Beginning! Once you get the basics down, it's all about being in the right place to find silver coins. Experience will tell you where to hunt.
