Well its a great find bud, whats the diameter? Silver I assume? Someone can ID that, I am certain. It looks rather large? Very nice find!

Depends if silver not copper? though if look hard does appear a faint 8 on obverse

I agree, could be either, depending on the material the OPs coin is made of. Since the Obverse is worn and the Reverse is identical, looks like it's up to the OP to determine.

Completely agree also..... zoomed in the pic's. I concentrated on the letters on the bottom left. It's definitely that date series of coinage.....

Thanks everyone i am so excited about this ! I dont want to give away my location but i was in the hills not far from the ocean on a hike with a lady friend when we stumbled on a area that looked as if it had a old property there at one time, i found 2 old bricks not far from each other so i said i am gonna come back here, it took me a few weeks to get back but i did manage to find 2 IH pennys and to my amazement this coin along with a harmonica reed and a bit of old pottery 
the IH pennys were dated 1897 and 1895 so i think i may have found a virgin spot that has some real age, I hit the area real hard once i found the IH and on my way out i found the Spanish coin just under the top soil maybe 3 inches deep sitting on a tree root
