Seems to be brass ... 2" long, maybe a part of some instrument?

Found at home dating to 1903

That is a organ reed.

It definitely is an organ reed. On one end towards the bottom there should be a letter stamped on it which indicates the note.

Well, as we all know, if you want to date it you will have to talk to its parents.
then its just a matter of sweet-talking, flowers and chocolate

These were also used in squeezeboxes (like small accordians)
