Looks like it has I.M. MTG CO across the top and Pat July 7th xx14? at bottom. It is close to a quarter in size but about half as thick

The hole is smaller than a .22 so not sure what would have been used...

Any info or ideas would be appreciated.

Is it possibly the bottom of a light socket? Here’s a patent with the right date, but I can’t find one that matches, so maybe it’s wrong. But the decorative side reminds me of one... even though it’s less domed than the usual ones.

The hole through the center is pretty gnarly... don't know if it came out in the picture but the leaf side is convexed and it looks like as the ext side. It's hard to make out but the plating has stress cracks on that side like it may have been flat before it was punched.

I thought button too but the center hole is so sharp and nasty I thought someone may have shot it. I'd love for it to be a button as I have yet to find my first flat button...

Found this about 5 ft from a 35 merc on an old home site/farm. Thanks for the Help! Look forward to anyone else who might be able to put a positive I'D.

That's really odd that it has the excess metal coming outward from the hole on both sides. I would imagine if it was shot it would have a clean hole on one side and the metal blowout on the other...

Wait,I’ve got it... that’s part of the top of a perfume bottle stopper/shaker with the tube broken off.One example where you’ll find this is on a German crown top perfume... I’ll work on proof, but I’m quite sure. Also found on some old Holy Water bottles... again with a crown many times.

If not the perfume, then a cap for some type of tube of something.
It's probably white metal/pot metal.
It would normally have a spout:yes:

Patent and example:

To me this looks like you hit the nail on the head. Awesome I'D! Thanks everyone and NHBenz.

Found a short article on the crown top perfume bottles and dating them but nothing stopper specific unless coloration comes into play.
