Anybody recognize the brass thing? Found in a field today that has given up a lot of 1800's stuff...no real modern trash; I think the house was knocked down a long time ago. Could be from a tractor I suppose. No clue. Thought it was a watch winding key when I had it in the clod of dirt

Yeah, after a little searching, I'd say you are right. It appears the stem is broken off and the loop half-broke off and got bent around.. Thanks! Hey, they stopped making key-wind watches in the 1850's so good enough for me!
