I got in one more hunt before this last Friday’s snow and was rewarded with yet another Shot GW Quarter, this time a 1964! :cheer: This is the 2nd one from this site and was found in the same general area as the first, a 1946. The bullet left a cleaner and more well-defined hole on this one.

Near an opening in a stone wall I found part of a pair of Candle Snuffer Wick Trimming scissors and about a foot away I recovered the other half. I’m guessing these to be Victorian era?

Most finds were spread over a very large area but then I happened upon a minor dump area of sorts. This is where I found a brass halter plate engraved with: CHAMPION DIRECT BY HIS ROYAL MAJESTY. My best guess is that this is a halter plate from a horse (or a cow? :p ). The only info I can find is that 'His Royal Majesty' refers to a Standardbred horse that was born in the 1930s. I can find no info on 'Champion Direct'.

Then I came across a spoon that was so shiny in the ground and relatively modern that I dismissed it as being stainless steel. It wasn’t until I got home that I saw the “K” monogram on the front and GORHAM STERLING PAT 1930 on the back! :waytogo:

Oh, and a deer skull. :wow:

Thanks for Looking!
Nick

Congrats, you may find more shot quarters! I would imagine someone capable of hitting a quarter would have done it many times. The "missed" ones were easily found and picked up but the "hit" ones flew out of plain site.

We have lined up 10+ coins many times while shooting. Expand your search area a bit more, you would not believe how far a coin will fly when they are hit near the edge.

Wow! what are the chances of finding two shot quarters? Great finds!
I realize that I'm very lucky to have found another one, Caintuk. Here is a photo of both of them side by side. It's quite a coincidence that '64 is the reverse of '46! ;)

Thanks, remmy! This 2nd quarter was found in the same general area as the first. I will have to go back and 'grid' that area on a future hunt.

Thanks, robrieman! There is a nearby stone wall that they could have been lined up on.
