I got in one more hunt before this last Friday’s snow and was rewarded with yet another Shot GW Quarter, this time a 1964! This is the 2nd one from this site and was found in the same general area as the first, a 1946. The bullet left a cleaner and more well-defined hole on this one.
Near an opening in a stone wall I found part of a pair of Candle Snuffer Wick Trimming scissors and about a foot away I recovered the other half. I’m guessing these to be Victorian era?
Most finds were spread over a very large area but then I happened upon a minor dump area of sorts. This is where I found a brass halter plate engraved with: CHAMPION DIRECT BY HIS ROYAL MAJESTY. My best guess is that this is a halter plate from a horse (or a cow? ). The only info I can find is that 'His Royal Majesty' refers to a Standardbred horse that was born in the 1930s. I can find no info on 'Champion Direct'.
Then I came across a spoon that was so shiny in the ground and relatively modern that I dismissed it as being stainless steel. It wasn’t until I got home that I saw the “K” monogram on the front and GORHAM STERLING PAT 1930 on the back!
Oh, and a deer skull.
Thanks for Looking!
