Having retired I want to start detecting living in San Diego the beach will be my primary area, I also RV quite a bit so I will be detectig in other areas. Eventhough it's not water proof I was planning to purchase a Minelab's Sovereign GT. Does this sound ok or should I consider another detector?
Thank You
Jerry

Welcome to the forum Yake! I'm not the right person to steer you in the purchase of a machine, others will do that--just wanted to say "howdy from Michigan!"

Welcome to the forum from northern California!!! (SF, south bay area).

Never used a Sov GT, but there are awesome things said about it.

Don't hesitate to ask anything here. The advanced search function on the forum is an excellent way to cruise through old posts.

Happy Hunting!!!

Welcome Jerry!! I too took up detecting when I retired about 2 years ago. I mostly hunt the beaches up here in Santa Cruz. Saving to get a better detector for our mineralized sand up here.
