Lump of lead??

Just found this lump of metal out in the yard. It’s a > 100 year old carriage house, so I’ve found plenty of old bits of metal. This one however is waaay heavier than it looks. That combined with the fairly deep cut I made on the side makes me think it might be lead, but I’m too much of an amateur to say.

Looks like it. I just hunted another house similar timeframe. They used to tin and lead chimneys along the roofline here where metal roofs have existed for quite some time. It was the predecessor of our modern flashing that comes in sheets. So yeah, just days ago I was hitting pieces that looked essentially the same. Good call on your part.
