Default How old is the shotgun shell

It says Rimington express 410 on the head. The three rings on the head ....

True but this one has three rings around the head. No current day ones have these rings. This shell was found on a hill top in Durham NC about 6 inches down.

Can you tell if there is plastic in the base of it, or is there paper? I don't know when Remington went from paper to plastic, but I'm sure that someone does.

I don't know exact dates, but most companies switched over to plastic in the 60's. I believe Remington was one of the earliest ones to make the change. Once plastic cases hit the market, they rapidly took over being a superior product in several respects.

I can tell from the photo that it is from a paper shell.

I was off the forums for a while. What happened to Turtlefoot? He use to be all over anything Headstamp related?

I noticed this too. Tried to find it the other day to look up some new headstamps I found
