Can anybody help me I did some metal detecting in Lower Allen township in Cumberland county and found an old coin about 4" below the service. Can anybody help me identify this? It seems to be offset but I do notice the head and what seems to be the name Connel?

Sorry it may be hard to see. It was hard getting a decent pick...

Hurray for a Connecticut colonial copper! Great find! There are smart folks here that can tell you more (that’s not me), but more pictures of both front and back would help them get you some specifics.

Wow that's pretty cool. Have these been known to be stamped offset? What I mean is it doesn't seem completely centered.

Here are front and back pics. Sorry still a little grainy.

That's a Nice 1785-1789 Connecticut Copper...Many Variations...Hard to tell from pics

No idea, but that thing looks old and awesome!

It's definitely a Connecticut Copper, as Joe319 said, but my best guess is its a 1788 "Draped Bust Facing Left". There's about 37 varieties of that year alone!
The obverse says "AUCTORI CONNEC", which means "by the authority of Connecticut". Very cool find indeed!!!
