Months ago I dug up an antique axehead. Today I turned it into a hatchet!

I put the pictures with descriptions into a single album so that I can share it with other friends :)

Thanks for looking! I had a lot of fun making this, and I feel like it almost gives me a connection to someone from the past, as corny as that sounds!

Nice job and looks like some good steel. Last time I used a Taiwan hatchet the metal flew apart. I would have thought you couldn't make a hatchet out of cast iron but I was wrong.

Today I worked on the handle and made it much nicer :)

You did a fantastic job. Next time you see a yard sale with a bunch of rusty tools check it out for an old drawshave. They used them back in the day to make tool handles, wheel spokes and just about anything made of wood around a farm....... for instance these. I have seen them for sale for as low as 2 bucks
rusted like that axe head but good steel and worth restoration and use.

Wow I've never heard of that, but it looks like an incredibly useful tool!

Man that's a jam up job you did. And I really like the Ka-bar machete too. I've got a whole mess for axes, machetes, knifes, great job again...
