Hi Rob,

Nobody knows what NFRHA means (including me, and I've been at it for 35 years).

You left the apostrophe out of "I'm".

Old parks and carnival grounds should be easy to research at your local library - saying you need help finding them makes people question your level of knowledge (and professionalism).

The flag background may work in some places, but New Yorkers will see it as pandering.

And your use of the word "historic" raises all kinds of red flags. People will see you as destroying historic property.

Sorry, but I'd redo it.

I have never made any business cards for md'ing, but it is a really good idea. I have bought business cards from VistaPrint.com and they have very reasonable rates.

The flag works for me! Of course I got some folks mad when I stood up for Lee Greenwood singing "God bless the USA", apparently it was rude. If the intent is to appear as an honest hobbyist who wants people to know who he is when he ask for permission to hunt, and is willing to try to help people find things they have lost, then I would say you are in there. The card makes it clear you are not an expert in the field, which again works with me. If you were to present that to me when asking to hunt on my land I would give you permission. If I were looking for someone to find a coin worth millions that I had lost and I was concerned about it getting damaged in the process or not being found quickly, I would look for someone more "professional". That sounds kind of negative, but I promise you it is not. As for the acronym what does it mean?

Reminds me of the Andy Griffith show when Barney made the sign "band concert tonight" and showed it to Andy. But I agree with Dan. Good idea, but re-work it a bit........................

Dan, thanks for your input. I dont think of myself as a professional nor do I seek to be one. I'm not sure what you mean by pandering? Please explain.the main reason for putting old parks and carnival grounds is that not all of them in this area are on maps or in a book. i give these cards out to alot of people away from the city in hopes of finding that sweet spot that is not in the books. i have gotton a few calls that have lead to good areas. it also seems to be a way to introduce myself.

niagara frontier relic hunters assn.

I'm not sure what you mean by pandering? Please explain.

There are a lot of people who hate metal detecting because they feel that treasure hunters are scavengers who steal relics and leave big holes.

I'm afraid these people would consider your use of the US flag on your card as a ploy by you to get into their good graces.

Probably just my over-reaction in this "wrap yourself in the flag" political season.

Well.... I have a computer, and an ink jet printer...

I went to Wal-mart years ago and purchased some blank Avery business card stock... came with 200 cards, and the software to make your own business card designs..... I think it cost me $7.00

The card stock is in sheets of 10 cards to a sheet.... and you can add photos or anything else you want.....

Make a design, print out a sheet of 10 cards.... Make a different design (or just text) put the sheet back in the printer and print the back too if ya want....

Use different fonts, colors, whatever you decide....
Print them instantly... want different cards for different things, or locations.... no problem... just make another design.... you're in control.... print what you want, when you want, and as many as you want.....

I've also bought return label stickers, clear stickers and all kinds of things..... like postcards etc.......
going on a group hunt, or a club hunt..... there's all sizes of card stock that you can print anything you want on....
just because it's a "business" card, or a post card, doesn't mean you have to use it as one.... if it's the right size, you can make it into a registration card, my find card, or anything else you can think of....

It's fast, cheap, and customed to your design.....
Just a thought.......

Good idea Benny...I like the idea of being able to 'customize' a card according to application.... had not thought of doing my own. I will now. Thanks, RickO

Pandering hum... I wear a US ARMY hat when i detect or approach many of the people that i ask to hunt their property. Mostly because im darn proud of the 22 years service i gave. I like the flag and if the person you approaced has to nit pick that, id say you werent going to get to hunt there anyway. Great idea Pull Tab... sometimes simple ideas brings large rewards.

Good points, dewcon.

But how many people wear the flag who were never in the service?

Too many politicians think that wearing a flag pin is an easy way to get the patriotic vote.

I have a card but it's very different from yours...

your card seems like an advertisement, which there is nothing wrong with as far as I'm concerned. My card is one my wife made up for me as a gift. My needs are very different. I live in a rural area and many people know me and what I do. My card is something I give out occasionally when someone tells me there is a need for my services to recover a lost item. Don't ask me what a metal detector specialist is cause I don't know.LOL All I really needed was something with my phone number. Although I have plat maps going back to 1865 and a history book of the county where I live, my best research tool is the local farmers. Most of the oldest sites here are either in a field or a woods. A farmer can tell you more about what's on his land than any history book or plat map. Almost every farmer I've talked to has pointed out sites to me that are too old to be listed on my plat maps. Before I get sidetracked too bad here is the card my wife made for me.

Not much to it but it is all I need. I hope your card gets you the sites you want. It would not work in the area where I live but if you live in an urban area things might be different.
