Default New Knees for QAguy

Finally received the results of my tests on Friday...As it turns out I need to have knee replacement surgery on both knees.

For the past year I have been dealing with a lot of pain and swelling. I tried to just brush it off, thinking I was just getting older but it got worse.

I spend most of my time on my feet at work, doing a lot of walking. This is making it much more difficult. Normally when I get home I have to ice my knees to get the swelling down enough to function for a few hours.

So the plan is to have the first surgery at the end of October. The doc said that I would have to wait three months between the surgeries. I said I would need to be ready for the next hunting season but he was not so sure about it. No doubt I will be back and ready for action when the weather clears up.

It will be nice to go out hunting without having to come home and ice my knees. Still, not really crazy about having surgery.

I had my left knee "replaced" in January 2009 and after the first 3 months or so of therapy (which is painful but worth it) by the 4th month I was virtually in NO PAIN AT ALL. And by the 6th month I was able to sit on the floor INDIAN STYLE -- still with no pain. Just work hard at the therapy that follows and do what the therapist asks you to do.

I suffered for 19+ yrs with pain and limited mobility. Finally, was able to have the surgery done. Dr. Andrew Shinar at the Vanderbilt Orthopedic Clinic in Nashville, TN did the surgery. It's been over 3 yrs and I'm still pain free! I hope your surgeries go as well as mine! Best of luck to you.
