Can you help me ID the age and service of a U.S. Military button I found today? I am assuming that it is U.S. Army but no idea of its date. The button is a two-piece but unfortunately there were no remnants of the back side of the button.
The site is a mid-1800's through current day occupied homestead. The button was found along the walkway leading to the front door about 6" deep. Other objects found on the site date from 1860's through early 1900's.
