Building a sifter screen

Hey guys, planning on digging more dump sites in the next few months and was hoping to get some advice on building a sifter screen. Hopefully one I can just strap on to my backpack and carry in to my locations. Any tips from experience would be especially appreciated.

easy sifter

I did a lot of sifting last summer for small items like coins and buttons. What worked well for me was a 6 gallon plastic milk crate with 1/4 screen fitted over the edges. Took along a small spade for digging and thick gloves for moving the dirt around over the mesh. Easy to handle and dump.
