Back in the 1800s Taiwan's beaches and streams yielded large quantities of gold. By the end of WWII, however, the easily accessible deposits had mostly played out. And following the recovery of Taiwan by China after the Japanese defeat, nneither the new government nor the new business/industrial classes showed any interest in searching for new deposits.

My husband and I both are certain that there remains a lot of gold to be discovered here and we are looking forward eagerly to the day when we have saved enough to buy a pair of good metal detectors.

If you just want a machine for gold prospecting you can get a good used nuggetshooter for not too much - I sold my Goldmaster VSAT for $200 a couple months ago. That sort of machine isn't so good for coins and such, though, and a more versatile machine costs more.

The best gold will be dropped in jewelry form...18K most likely in Taiwan.

Get a good beach machine!!
