Okay, I rescued my piece from one of my junk boxes. This is why I don't throw stuff out (much to my wife's chagrin). But you just never know! So here is a pic of the piece I was talking about:

that part looks to me like it may be part of a set of shoulder scales from dress uniform or officr uniform.

Nice digs either way!

I can't wait to get somewhere east and try to dig CW relics!

It's harder to do in Michigan though. LOL

ok I am convinced it is the shoulder scales from a uniform now.

Went looking for some pictures. Of course there are a number of vaireties..but the notch for attaching them on the narrow end indicates that is what it is.

Great find!
