Default My first real “Treasure” …

I was out earlier today with the Nox on one of my permissions, in a field that had never really produced anything…

Being November in Wales, it was damp and a little miserable and it was a drag to get myself out detecting, but I am certainly glad I did…

The first few finds were the usual rubbish, but then I got a screaming 23 signal on the Nox which I assumed was an ali drinks can, but dug it anyway.

I was therefore stunned to see the gold ring below….A closer look, and I was even more stunned to see the internal inscription “My Hart Is Yovrs” in what might be termed old fashioned English…

I am not sure of its exact age yet, but probably the 1600’s or perhaps a touch older…

That's a sweet ring. I'd love to have it because of that old type lettering.

Thanks for everybody's kind words! The ring is now with my local museum where it is being assessed and will have to go through various red tape to comply with our Treasure laws...

A wedding band possibly dating to the colonial days is an excellent historical recovery; way to go! Please keep us posted when the assessment results are in!

Will do! Sadly the whole process takes a long time; it seems there is no sense of urgency when you are dealing with Acidemia here in the UK!

Still have a stupid grin on my face! 😀

And it was from a field that had produced virtually nothing over a dozen or so previous visits...
