I’ve found a lot of toll locations on old maps. Prior to the government taxing us and using tax money to build roads private companies would make toll locations to cover the cost of constructing and maintaining the roads. I found one of these toll locations prior to detecting. It’s at a choke point in a canyon. There were a lot of broken bottles there and I had no idea why? Here’s a photo of one of the old roads in California. I’m sure there was a toll located nearby!
