Old chain with hooks ID

I found this old chain IMG_0404.jpg
deep in the forest about 6 inches deep. Seems to be old as the hooks are pretty crude. Any idea what it was used for and how old it could be?IMG_0402.jpg

looks like a big logging chain. wrap the hooks around the log and pull from the middle. probably end of the 1800s early 1900s

That makes sense as there were nearby logging camps from that time period.. Thanks

It's called a single trailer grab. The hooks would be pounded into the ends of logs, up to 10-12 in a row. Horse's or oxen would drag the logs out of the woods. Great find.

I should add, that's a swivel in the middle, this prevents the chain from breaking when the logs twist from being dragged.
