I was wondering how long it ROUGHLY takes for silver in the ground to tarnish. I know there are variables that will speed up the process etc... but all the silver pieces I have extracted from the ground have looked great, nearly as good as gold looks when it comes out.

Just wondering your thoughts.

ALL of the silver I have dug has been bright and clean. Pine needles or other acidic organic sources might turn the coin black. If it was wrapped in a sulfur based paper or cardboard, you can get a rainbow of colors if the coin stays dry. So if a coin will otherwise tarnish, it is over 100 years......
