Was hunting the woods this morning where an old state route used to cross a creek, it now crosses a bit up stream of it. Old maps show a house off the old road bed so figured I'd give it a look.
Not a whole lot af targets, did pull a couple dimes and two pennies from the late 60s and early 70s. Alot of old shotgun brass too.
I did lock a solid 42 at 6" so I was think a quarter. Turned out to be what appears to be a silver ring maybe? Its oddly shaped with no visible markings, but it's got alot of weight. Only fits my pinky.
What do you think? Ring?

I do not think this is a ring. It looks too thick but maybe that is just the picture. Also the weld is not something I have seen on rings they usually have a smoother solder joint.

Does the pointy end show any wear? I wounder if this was something mechanical.

Overall the only wear is light scratches. The welded area is smooth on the inside.
Maybe I'll post it in the "what's it" section.

Its a colonial fidget spinner :laughing: interesting piece, hoping its silver! Looks like stainless from here. Spit in some aluminum foil and wrap the ring in aluminum and spit completely. If it crackles and smells like rotten eggs, its silver...if no reaction, it is not silver. Happy hunting!

Lol I did that I when i got home, passed with flying colors. I'll get it checked for sure as soon as my 15 year old takes it off.

Colonial fidget spinner.:lol::lol:

Almost looks like a thumb switch from a big socket driver, or some tool or machinery piece. Possibly a cam of sorts? If it's silver, you can rule that out tho.
Interesting find for sure.

Thanks Moe, I searched the exact phrase and didn't see that picture. Found something similar. Stopping by our jeweler today to get a definitive answer.

Looks stainless steel but if it is a ring then it's a big one! Nice find either way

Looks like aluminum or silver to me...

Both far far easier to work than stainless, stainless has a blacker look IMO...
