Digging coins in manicured lawns and parks or at the beach is usually #1 on most of our agendas. It's fun to head into heavier terrain and switch to relic mode. This site was active from 1879 till 1913 which is roughly when houses were starting to pop up in my area. These may not be to exciting for you guys in older areas but they're pretty darn cool to me!

Someone cut and stuck a couple headstamps together.. The fork and lantern piece are my favorites so far. The rifle and pistol brass are .45-60, .44 and some unmarked. The headstammps are 12 and 10 gauge.

Thanks for looking and HH!

Nice Hunting !! Homesteads are my favorite. I think if you look hard enough, almost everyone will have a harmonica reed.

Nice ! I notice the number of...

Very interesting things,,,,,

I was looking at your picture and noticed.....the ratio of shell casings and
Shot guns shells to the other relics......oh yeah.....definitely. A whole lotta shootin goin on
Around your "Ghost" town.... back in it's Day...

What was it that has been said many times? Talking about life back then???
"If ya lived to be over 30 years old, you were concidered to be an old man!"

Cool looking finds!

I love old head stamps. I always try to put a date on the ones I find.

Ever check out http://www.headstamps.x10.mx/database.html
Thank you. TurtleFoot is the man when it comes to Headstamps!

Good report. Good pix. Love the period targets like suspender clips, lantern parts, harmonica reeds, etc.... Evokes images of a Clint Eastwood Spaghetti western movie ! haha

Thanks Dave - been digging a ton of old head stamps on an old plantation along with round balls and other relics.

Love hunting ghost towns - ton of relics

As much as we enjoy the hobby, many times it's about the relics we find. IMHO, there is something special when you find something that was personal to someone long gone. Buttons, suspender clips, jewelry, hair pieces....etc. Coins are great, but it's not all about coins.
