Got two coins I would like some help with. First is a buffalo that is pretty bad shape. Second is a token from a NJ till I believe. Would like advice on how/if I should clean these. I really wanna see if the buffalo has a year but I'm not holding my breath. Pics coming... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1388114899.491524.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1388114912.056161.jpg

Not sure about the token, but lightly scrub the Indian with an SOS pad and it will reveal any details. Very fine (000) steel wool works also.

Mild way: start with the soak/brush approach. Distilled water, nylon brush.
Toothpick for the fine details and grit.

Less mild: If you aren't the patient kind, and don't mind losing the patina, put it in heated 3% hydrogen peroxide. Google this if you need more info on how to do it.

Steel wool and the like might scratch your coin and/or wear off the surface.

If you want that buff to look like new! soak it in pure lemon juice for a day and then take very fine steel wool and gently rub until it begins to lighten and shine like new. Repeat process as necessary.
