While coming home from trying out a new spot today, I may have found a great site. I pulled off the highway, down a dirt road at the behest of an Oklahoma historical marker. A little ways down the dirt road, I found some overgrown grass, un-kept trees and two 15 foot stone towers. The first one mentioned a stockade built in the 60s, a quarter century of use, blah blah blah. I thought, what's the big deal about a stock pen from the 60's? Then I found the date the plaque was erected. 1932! This was as site from 1860-1890! Best of all, it mentioned the crossing of an indian trail, and 2 other trails two hundred yards away. Two hundred yards away is a farmer's wheat field!!! If I can get permission, I will have a site dating back to the civil war, where there was not another white man for hundred miles, so this would have been a very popular stop along the trail.

I didn't treck through the forrest of grass to read the second.
