Went out yesterday with my detecting buddy, MoBob, to hunt a hayfield. Found some evidence of possible civil war activity. Dug a toe tap, rivets, a strap type buckle, part of a harmonica reed, some camp lead and what looks like part of a J hook. No buttons or bullets. What do you guys think? Could it have been a short time camp for a few troops? Oh, also found a Seated Liberty dime -- 1890, so obviously it was post war Thanks for looking and HH Chip

Not sure if it's a civil war camp or not, but I have dug all of those things at common house sites that are now in fields. Perhaps there was a house there and that could explain why you found stuff. Could be a civil war site, and might not be.

Sweet finds regardless.
