Hi all,
Any ideas on what this old lead disc is? It measures about 1-3/4 inches in diameter and a little over 1/4 inch thick, weight about 4.3 ounces. It is about the size of a large checker but I don't think it's a game piece. I was thinking it was a lead ingot but I don't know.
I dug this a couple of weeks ago on the grounds of an 1800s house in an area that had some limited Civil War activity and I found what appears to be a Sharps bullet nearby but no other relics. Thanks!

Probably too thick, but some lead disks were used to seal jars. Lead put on the jar lid held lead disc in place. Just an idea. I have found lead discs with jar lid rusting still intact
