I've been out twice before today but the ground was still a bit frozen and each hunt was only for an hour.
Today I traveled north to a small town very near to the Canadian border to see if I could find some old stuff.
At first I was just hunting the park which in my opinion had been hunted to death. I found a couple a memorial cents and was about to move on. I came across a signal usually associated with a bottle cap at 4" down and ended up popping an 1897 Canadian large cent out of the hole! That was worth the trip right there in my opinion.
I went around town seeing what there was for old abandoned houses and came across a few I wanted to hunt. I pulled up my OnXHunt app to find out who owned them. I was able to get a hold of one of the people who gave me the go ahead.
I ended up getting 4 wheats, a beat up 1916-s Mercury dime, a couple old thimbles, a neat watch fob and what I think is a silver pocket watch missing the guts and front cover. It was a cold hunt (32°) but it was a fun one!
I included a picture of an oil well site along the way there where the treater had caught fire and burned up, probably last night, as you can still see smoke coming out of what is left.
