Yeah, they were. They have run that special at Christmas time for the last couple years. I got a SMOKIN deal on my CTX (WELL below $2499) and still got the free 17" coil.

Yes, the 17" coil was free with a new purchase of 3030 during Christmas....
Wonder why Minelab didn't offer the 6" coil free with the CTX, or at least give folks a choice???
And the 6" coil is indeed a little cheaper than the 17" coil.....

Yeah, don't know either. I know the first year they ran a couple of promos, first was a free 6", then a free 17". I expected them to go back to the free 6" again, but they stuck with the 17". Maybe they had a better response to that one. I know I use my 6" WAAAY more than I use my 17" although both are great coils.
