As the above answers indicate, nobody can tell you what it is for sure. If it is lead, it it most likely a projectile of some kind. A measurement of the diameter can help narrow it down, but not conclusively.

Found something yesterday that looks just like that at an old house site. Its about 1/4 inch in diameter and made out of copper or brass. It's not buck shot.

By just going off the photo to big for buckshot. Looks to be maybe a small cal. round ball. Maybe a 40 cal. Nice find
