First 15 minutes with my new Equinox 800. UNBELIEVABLE

I received the 800 yesterday (Saturday), did the update, took it "for a walk in a park on Sunday." UNBELIEVABLE! In 15 minutes I found a quarter, 2 dimes, a nickel, 3 pennies, a Wheatie, a silver ear ring, and then, AND THEN, a 25.3 gram 10k gold ring. HUGE. Value on the net says it's worth 620 dollars. UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE. In 15 minutes it paid for 2 thirds of its cost. The largest ring by far in 20 years of detecting.

Your first day out with a brand new machine ? YOU CHEATED ! You're supposed to find dozens of junk rings, then a few silver, then 500 pulltabs, and THEN you can find a gold ring. Tsk Tsk. No skipping to the head of the class. You have to "pay your dues" like the rest of us had to.

So go ahead and put that back in the ground, and .... perhaps in 6 months you'll have paid the appropriate dues. Ok ?

14 keeper targets in 15 minutes, that's about a target per minute and the fact that you didnt dig a single piece of trash is even more impressive congrats!

After 15 or 20 minutes it was all trash. They say when you find a great target like a gold ring or silver half just jump in your car and go home because it's not going to get any better than that. So I went home.

I think one of the reasons for my good luck was the area I was hunting. The golf courses here are closed for the winter. No one was around so I took a chance and began hunting near the club house, the 19th hole. Lots of golfers gather in and out of the club house. One of the golfers with large fingers and too much to drink nicely gave me his ring. Thank You

I tested smaller gold rings. They all came in around 10 to 12. Strange.

Same thing happened to me when I first got my nox. I was in line to get one of the first releases of the nox when they first came out. Didn’t even know the machine and took it to my son’s soccer practice and figured I’d fiddle around with it and try to learn it’s settings and sounds, etc. Second target was a 20/21 and I did remember reading that that was the zinc penny range. About two inches down was a 15 ish gram Gardner Web university class ring. To this day it was the biggest gold ring I’ve ever found. Ended up returning it.
