Hi folks,

So I went to an older military installation and was very excited to dig up these two buttons. I suspect they are pre-WWII. I included a picture with a dime for size comparison. The smaller button says Horstmann Philadelphia on the back and the larger one says N.S. Meyer New York.

These are the first buttons I've ever found. Is there any way to date them? Also, is it possible to clean/polish them? Or is it similar to coins where it is better to leave them in their current condition? Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the help!!

I was just getting ready to post the two WWI era Eagle buttons I found yesterday! Congratulations on your two! I cleaned mine with Go-Jo hand cleaner and a toothbrush under hot water, then rubbed and polished with paraffin wax. You can see the results in my post. Super Finds!!!!!
