My 9 year-old son and I have just dabbled with curb strips in the past. Today we got serious. Hit a strip in an early 1900's part of town for a few hours and rescued a 1918 wheatie, 1923 merc, 1944-D wheatie and 1951-D wheatie from the grave.

Also got a few other interesting items such as an old powerline insulator, two golf balls, a marble and a shows-up-as-copper whatsit. Also $0.56 in clad.

We found all these coins on the curve of the curb strip. I found that interesting.

HH all!

Very nice saves, congrats on all..Really curious to hear from you on the at max, keep us posted.

Absolutely. Hope to get it in the next week or two. Just saw an update from Garrett confirming they are being built and sent to distributors. Sweet! I had to turn down the sensitivity on both our ACEs today due to ground minerals and powerlines. I am hoping that the MAX has better flexibility with its GB features.

Big congrats to you and your son on the Wheaties and Silver! :detector: They're in pretty good condition, too.

You guys sure have been racking up on some cool finds lately. Keep it up, happy hunting. :mder:

Way to go! But, why do you have to dig so big a hole? Its these size of holes that get detectorists banned from good hunting places. But very nice finds!

Thanks. The plug is the same size as the hole and it was replaced carefully. We also had permission from the homeowners (even though technically we didn't need it). So, telling me/us that our plug is too big and that it gives detectorists a bad name is a stretch, especially since I did not post what it looked like after I replaced the plug. Now had I left it like that then I would agree with you wholeheartedly. So, why dig such a large hole? A number of factors including human error, signal, pinpointing, soil composition and a very inquisitive 9 year-old egging me on.

Cool finds! They were probably all in the corner of the strips because of people pulling them out of their pockets while waiting to cross the street.

I still say if you dig holes this big and anti-detectorists see it, its going to be a bad influence on our hobby. Thats why I have a good pinpointer......so I won't have to dig big holes like this. I NEVER dig a hole larger than 3" in diameter.....never

Well you're clearly the better man. Maybe I can mail you a gold star?
