When I was a newbie on this forum some old salts were discussing honker ring status.
It was agreed it's not a honker until 15 grams. So that is what I go by.
Honker status has always been 10grams, as I recall. 9.9 is just a big ring.
10grams or more of precious metal is HONKER status for sure. 15 seems like it would fall into the "Massive" ring category.
My personal feelings on the matter (which ought to be codified): 0.01 to 0.09 grams = Micro gold
0.10 to 1.00 grams = Teeny gold 1.01 to 2.00 grams = Tiny Gold 2.00 to 4.99 grams = Gold 5.00 to 9.99 grams = Nice Gold (possible may include "big" if the style supports it) 10.00 to 15.55 grams = Honker Gold 15.56 and up = Massive gold / Heavy gold /Whopper, etc. This can be described any way the lucky finder chooses to describe it, such as "BIG" or "more than a half-ounce!" or whatever awesome feeling came with it... sometimes these are chains or pendants, it doesn't matter. 1/2 ounce of carat gold in a find is a LOT of gold.
