It’s pretty heavy for something this size. It could be made of lead. Looks like maybe some thing sat in the recessed area and the screw clamped it in place. Another thing I noticed is the slots across where the screw goes in. Typically slots like that are for turning the part onto the threads. Still a mystery item.
