Found old maps, but...

So I looked up some old maps of my town on a university website, but they don't tell me much. All I see mostly are the roads, which haven't changed in 100 years mostly. The park I went to just shows as an open area. Where else might I look for older maps? I looked up google maps and it just has grass and trees in the area of the park.

Thanks, I checked out those sights. Looks like where the park is used to be a foundry, a boiler works, and the canal company, whatever that is. I will have to do more research.

Go to your local historical society. I got 1854 and 1876 county maps from them and they are quite detailed, showing many homes with the owner's names and many sites like mills, churches, etc. I found them fairly accurate if I take into consideration where the old roads have been re-routed to.

The GPS coordinates are not always accurate when transfer them onto Google Earth but I have found them accurate in the field. Hope this helps.
