Found this medal at an 1850s house site. Thought it was military but i"m not so sure, did some research on it but was having trouble finding anything. Thanks!

Looks to me more like a fob than a medal.

My mistake, this is my first time using this forum. Also, I do believe you are correct that its a fob. I will try to do some more research, thank you.

I believe that is a WW1 Victory watch fob. Really cool!!!

^^^This. WWI Victory watch fob. The elongated opening was for a cloth or leather strap which is why I think fob over medal. Pocket watches fell out of favor when wrist watches became popular.
