I was hunting a local park around a Baseball Field with my MXT with the White’s Eclipse 6x10 DD Coil and recovering lots of clad and pennies when I got a good lock on a VDI 12 at 8 inches. I had already dug a few targets in the low VDI Ranges only to recover pieces of foil, but this time I struck gold!

It’s little and with no stone, but its still 14K gold. Gold is gold….

Just as I was finishing up tonight, I got a tip from Park Security that a Concert and Fireworks Show took place and thousands of people attended. Most of the people sat on the Soccer Field and the area surrounding it. I’ll be out of town tomorrow, but weather permitting I’ll get over there on Sunday or Monday.

Hey guys, sorry about duplicated thread. I went to edit the thread and second photo. But somehow it duplicated the thread instead of editing the one with the added photo…..:?:

I’m hoping our host can delete first thread.

I did edit the title tell all to ignore. However I fear that will just make people look even more.

When ever you say, "don't look!" You just know they are going to look ......

Hey guys,

I hit the soccer field this morning. I was excepting to get a lot of recently dropped clad and some jewelry, I did get some, but most of what I’m finding is clad that been in the ground for at least a few years. It would seem this field has been used for concerts and other activities for years.

Due to so many good targets, I’ve covered less than half of what would be “Inside the 20 Yard-line” or the “Red-zone” on a football field. I did get one more gold ring and a pendent so far this morning. My educated guess on the this morning’s clad would be about 26 quarter, 12 nickels, 17 dimes and somewhere close to 12 copper memorial pennies and 17 zinc pennies.

And yes, more then a few junk tagets as well ...

I stopped home to get some lunch and while be heading back to the field to get as much hunting in as I can this afternoon. Got some storms brewing and I suspect they’ll be popping-off about 3 or 4 PM.

GTG eat lunch and head back to the field afterwards. I’ll update and post a picture or two later or tomorrow.

The ring is a beauty! After all that foil, you must have been in two minds whether or not to dig, but wow - a sweet find! I dig up a ton of foil, but I know that if I don't, I'll miss the gold!

Sounds like it's going to take some time to go over the soccer field, but congrats on what you've found so far! The last time I hunted a soccer field, a police officer yelled at me and told me to leave. It belongs to a community center, and the director had actually SUGGESTED places on the field to hunt beforehand!!! I didn't want to cause any trouble, so I left. But I did let the director know what happened.

Hope you find some interesting stuff this afternoon, before the rain starts!

Well guys,

After doing so well this morning with my MXT , I made the trip back out to the soccer field this afternoon with my M-6 with the same White’s Eclipse 6x10 DD Coil and stated hitting the clad right off the bat as well as a 14K Gold Ring with a blue stone! I recovered the ring only 10 minutes into my hunt. I was off to a great start, but about 20 minutes after I started my hunt, a team showed up to practice. I didn’t know they still played soccer this time of the year.

The coach told me that I could keep hunting, but I just told him I’d work the outside of the field because I didn’t want to be a distraction for the kids. So I moved to the grass area around the field and around the bleachers where I ended up digging some more clad dimes and some more copper pennies right off the bat.

But then a group of young ladies showed up, laid down some blankets, took off their shirts and shorts and were now wearing nothing but skimpy little bikinis and started rubbing suntan lotion all over themselves and each other totally distracting me from my metal detecting! ... :wow:

Then park ranger used me to get a better look at the girls, coming over to talk and see how I was making out with my metal detecting.

Well, I’m a very happily married man, but there was some great eye-candy out on that field. So I can’t blame the hard working Park Ranger... :tumble:

And then a short time later the coach came over to see how my metal detecting was coming along!

As for the young boys that I didn’t want to distract with my metal detector, they were now totally distracted and it wasn’t because of me. It was funny to see.

Well needless to say I didn’t get much more detecting done after that. But I’ll head back over to the field Saturday morning and during the morning hours next week. The ranger tells me the fields are open every morning next week and will only be used after 2:00 PM.

Here my day’s take from the soccer field after a wash in warm water and Dawn Dish Soap:

1 - 14K Gold Ring with a blue stone. Ring is slightly misshaped and the as can be seen in the photo, the stone mount is bent. But I’m sure it can be fixed as good as new.

32 - Clad Quarters -2 for a bottled water from the vending truck. (Had to cool off after those bikinis)

25 - Clad Dimes

20 - Copper Memorial Pennies

Didn’t count my Zinc Pennies but I think I get 17. (Note pictured)

Looks like you had the whole town coming over 'to watch you metal detect'! LOLOL!!! You must have felt like a Verizon Network commercial!

Sweet finds, especially the 14k gold ring! So many coins! You must have got a good workout, what with all that walking, kneeling and digging!

Your right on all accounts! ...

I did get a good workout, went thought three 32oz. Gatorades. And I have a good pair of knee pads. And I’ll be rubbing more Ben Gay on my knees when going to sleep … :(

I failed to mention in my post, after all the distractions, the Skies turned angry. I just made it back to my truck when it stated dropping lightning bolts, then hail followed by heavy downpours! :wow:

But I can’t complain, I had a great day with all those coins plus a nice ring. I have good days like this every now and then on the fairgrounds, after the big State Fair or on the grounds after a carnival, but my park hunts don’t usually turn out this good. I was lucky to find this park and to get the hot tip.

Do you by any chance know what kind of stone is in the ring that I found? Or anyone does anyone else?

Best Regards,
Silver Hawk

It looks like a sapphire, but it looks more like a created sapphire than a natural one. Beautiful ring!!!

I’ve been debating whether or not to get a detector to use in the water at the beach. I want once but would get much use with it right now. However I’m looking at houses in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico and will be spending at least half the year there.

Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico has some of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean and I plan of spending lots time metal detecting those beaches and planed on getting a beach detector then.

But now you have just convinced me to that White's Surf PI Pro Dual Field Detector I want ahead of time. I just start working the Jersey Beaches to warm up for Puerto Rico ….
